Preciosa Lighting recently completed two fascinating lighting projects in the UAE—118 Downtown Dubai and Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi.

Called Amber Wave, this installation is comprised of only 26 residences, the 118 Downtown Dubai is a luxury housing complex by Signature Developers who chose HBA Dubai as their interior designer. “We want the arrival experience of both residents and their guests to be a memorable one,” said Raj Shroff, director of Signature Developers. “The Amber Wave installation seems to fly dramatically through space and we couldn’t be more pleased with the final result.”

Amber Wave is a 1600kg lighting installation in the residence’s lobby made from hand-blown crystal, amber and smoky taupe glass elements. Each glass piece was individually hung by Preciosa’s installation team, an effort which took over 700 hours. The chandelier is unique in day and night conditions. During the day, it reflects natural light then lights up brilliantly when darkness descends. The piece curves perfectly through space, coming to a crescendo when the tall atrium ceiling rises.

An Underwater World lighting installation at Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi takes the inspiration from the depths of the sea. In the lobby is an exquisite crystal sculpture, stretching across the expanse of the space, like an octopus’ tentacles. It is composed of hand-blown Bohemian crystal jellyfish and corals, in shades of  the peacock, azure, sky blue, aqua, and iris. Crystal beads enhance the brilliance of the installation. Thinking of coral influenced the striking wall installation in the resort’s reception space. Shades of blue highlighted by gold plated finishes were used to keep continuity within the area.
