Abdulla Al-Shamsi is the founder and principal architect of Shape Architeture Practice and Research. He got his Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University in New York, where he studied architecture under Bernard Tschumi (MSAAD). At the American University of Sharjah, he received his Magna Cum Laude Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degree. Al-Shamsi has developed his knowledge by leading some of the major projects in the region. His tremendous body of work has made him a sought-after guest speaker and critic at universities throughout the UAE.

He has led Shape Architecture Practice And Research in the development of renowned hotels, apartments, cultural institutions, institutional buildings, and academic campuses. He developed a multidisciplinary strategy based on the three fundamental pillars of research, sustainability, and technology. Shape Practice And Research is able to address the particular needs of each project by adhering to these principles, completely comprehending client objectives, and establishing a relationship that endures throughout the design and construction process. As an Emirati, he brings a deep understanding of the local lifestyle, culture, and environment to every project he leads. Simultaneously, working with a diverse staff adds new perspectives to Shape’s work, leveraging international design experience and methodologies.
