As one of the region’s most experienced architects, Jason Burnside has developed long-term client relationships that have resulted in repeat business on numerous occasions. Burnside’s involvement with the Arcadia School and Arcadia High School led to the client awarding Godwin Austen Johnson the latest new school in the portfolio, the Arcadia Global School, which is currently under construction in Al Furjan.

In addition, Burnside and his team are back on site with the new C Hub which is due for completion later this year. This new addition to the campus sees the continuation of a relationship which spans more than 35 years.

While he may be renowned for his school projects, Burnside has also led the design of a number of internationally branded hotels across the Middle East which has included the Warner Bros Hotel in Abu Dhabi, the DoubleTree by Hilton Abu Dhabi Yas Island Residences and the DoubleTree by Hilton Sharjah.

Several new projects are keeping Burnside and his team busy, particularly in Saudi Arabia where the design team are working on a large cultural project and a residential project, both in Riyadh. In Dubai, the team are working on the Serenia Living project, which follows the success of the Serenia Residences, also on The Palm Jumeirah, designed and handed over by GAJ in 2018.

According to Burnside: “2022 saw a significant increase in the number of projects awarded across the region as the design industry rebounds post pandemic. For 2023 the outlook remains positive, however with the increased demand, pressure to deliver projects on time and within budget will be a significant challenge as will recruiting new talent to service growing portfolios.”
