Brian Johnson is the principal and managing partner of Godwin Austen Johnson. has maintained an almost con stant presence in the Gulf region, and in Since 1975, he 1991, he established the GAJ headquarters in Dubai.

With more than 40 years of regional experience to his name, Johnson’s influence on modern Middle Eastern architecture is undeniable. Some of the region’s most recognisable and prized buildings are among his creations.

Among them is the Dubai Creek Golf Club, which is usually recognised as one of Dubai’s first architectural icons. Acknowledged as one of the most distinguished architects in the region, Johnson is credited with having set in motion a countrywide trend in the UAE to incorporate traditional Arabic and Islamic themes into modern architecture.

His distinctive style and uncompromising resolve for design excellence has made Brian and GAJ a preferred partner for many distinguished projects and has resulted in the firm winning an array of architectural awards.

Some of his successfully completed projects include Miral Headquarters Abu Dhabi, The SPACE (Sports and Performing Arts Centre of Excellence) at Dubai College, Arcadia High School, and Hilton Garden Inn Kuwait, amongst others.

There is a range of projects Johnson is currently working on such as a themed Hotel in Abu Dhabi; The Palace Hotel & Serviced Apartments, Dubai; residential project in Diriyah Gate, KSA; a hospitality project in Al-Ula County, KSA; New park and discovery centre in Sharjah; Hotel; a residential development in Abu Soma Egypt; and Mediterranean-style residential development in Egyp.
