IN8 Design Reimagines Modernism For Cadillac Fairview At TDC
IN8 Design has redefined what it means to work inside a modernist masterpiece

IN8 Design has completed the transformation of a management office for Cadillac Fairview inside the landmark Toronto-Dominion Centre. The project celebrates the discipline of modernist architecture while reinterpreting it for the realities of contemporary workplace culture. The result is an office that functions not only as a hub for management but also as a working showroom, underscoring Cadillac Fairview’s leadership as a steward of design.
Stepping into the space, the influence of Mies van der Rohe’s original architecture remains clear. IN8’s approach was guided by the tower’s iconic five-foot grid, ensuring precise alignment of planning and proportion. The design team worked with restraint and discipline, paring the interiors back to essentials while layering in carefully chosen materials, textures, and technologies to elevate both form and function.

“Our intent was never to create an imitation of the past, but to let the building’s architecture and history inform how we move forward,” said Don Parker, Principal at IN8 Design. “Cadillac Fairview challenged us to deliver a space that balances performance and elegance in equal measure, and to do so with the clarity that defines this landmark address.”
“Cadillac Fairview has held management offices at TDC since the mid-eighties. While the relocation was prompted by team moves, it was crucial to create a space that exemplifies innovative workspaces for the entire complex. The new office space showcases the collaborative areas with our large lunch room/cafe which is such a successful social hub. Our leasing team regularly brings prospective tenants on tours, and we also welcome existing tenants seeking inspiration for their spaces. We’re extremely happy with our new space with its open, contemporary yet timeless design.”~The Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited
