In 2001, Martin joined Kerry Hill Architects in Singapore, where he honed his expertise in high-end resort architecture. He contributed to several acclaimed projects, including the Chedi in Chiang Mai, the Sukhothai in Bangkok, and the Amansara in Cambodia. These experiences enriched his architectural perspective, emphasizing the importance of context and cultural identity in design. Martin’s projects consistently showcased his ability to create “living structures,” buildings that enhance the daily lives of their inhabitants.

By 2005, Martin had moved to Dubai, where he conceptualized the iconic Capital Gate in Abu Dhabi, a structure renowned for its dramatic lean, earning a Guinness World Record. His book, 18 Degrees – Capital Gate the Leaning Tower of Abu Dhabi, offers an in-depth look at this groundbreaking project. This phase of his career solidified his reputation as a visionary architect, capable of pushing the boundaries of conventional design.
