Mahmoud is currently leading several pioneering projects focused on wellness, sustainability and low-energy ecosystems. These include a next-generation Innovation Hub in Abu Dhabi with an emphasis on energy efficiency, low-carbon design, and nature-integrated business spaces and a high-performance office development in Dubai Healthcare City. He advances material innovation and post-carbon architecture, using passive strategies and renewables, with upcoming projects designed to exceed standards and enhance human well-being and the environment.
FROM START TO SUCCESS
Born in Cairo, and educated in architecture that is driven by a passion for human-centric design, Mahmoud Shahin began his career working across the Middle East and Asia before joining P&T Group in 2006. He then built a career marked by design excellence and sustainability leadership, and steadily progressed through key leadership roles, eventually becoming Design Director for P&T MEA. Career milestones include delivering complex mixed-use towers, high- end residential, cultural and hospitality. As he continues to shape the firm’s presence in UAE and beyond. His journey reflects both creative vision and pragmatic delivery of world-class architecture.
THE ROAD AHEAD
Looking forward, Mahmoud envisions architecture evolving from static structures into adaptive, regenerative systems that give back more than they take. He aims to expand P&T’s footprint across Africa and Saudi Arabia’s giga-projects, driving sustainable, enduring architecture. With rising expectations from both clients and communities, he believes architects must balance commercial goals with cultural authenticity, technological intelligence, and environmental responsibility to reshape how cities live, work, and breathe.

Mahmoud’s leadership is built on collaboration, mentorship, and a deep commitment to purposeful design. To him, architecture is a team effort, not a one-man show. He believes that architecture must serve people first while remaining environmentally responsible. By empowering multidisciplinary teams and fostering open exchange of ideas, he drives innovation while maintaining clarity of vision. His influence extends beyond practice, shaping industry dialogue, guiding regional masterplans, and inspiring young architects to design with empathy, intelligence, cultural sensitivity, and long- term environmental responsibility.
PROJECTS
That Define Excellence Among Mahmoud’s defining works is the FIVE Hotel on Palm Jumeirah, a landmark hospitality destination recognized for its bold identity and iconic gateway presence. Equally notable is the JW Marriott Burj Rafal in Riyadh, a mixed-use tower that seamlessly integrates luxury hospitality, residential living, and retail spaces within a commanding vertical form. His work on the award-winning Security Forces Medical Centre Grand Mosque further demonstrates his commitment to spiritual architecture underpinned by sustainability.
