RIBA GULF And AIA Middle East Unite For Women’s Empowerment In Architecture

RIBA Gulf and AIA’s collaborative program involves female students, young architects, and seasoned professionals across generations

“The RIBA GULF Chapter and AIA Middle East are partnering again to bring a programme of women’s empowerment in architecture and design that transcends multi-generations to celebrate this years’ International Women’s Day”, says Sandra Woodall, RIBA GULF Chapter Country Representative for the UAE, and founder of the Chapter’s “Women in Architecture Programme”.

Stephanie Kinnick, Director of Operations and AIA International Secretary added that “in organising this year’s event we have worked with both the AIAS, our students studying architecture and the RIBA GULF Chapter’s Young Architects Association, along with the seasoned professionals on our respective regional committees to reflect the aspirations of those at all stages of their careers”.

A keynote from Dubai Design Idol, Pallavi Dean, Founder and Creative Director of home grown, multi award-winning studio Roar will be followed by a Pecha Kucha session discussing empowered women in our industry. Featuring architecture and design students from Abu Dhabi University, American University in Dubai, American University of Sharjah, Canadian University Dubai, De Montfort University Dubai, Heriot-Watt University, Dubai Campus and Manipal Academy of Higher Education – MAHE, Dubai.

The organisers wish to thank Pallavi Dean, the students and faculties of all the universities participating, and their respective Institutes’ regional committees, including: Grammatiki Zamani, Amel Abdelli, Dana Otoom, and Christine Bahou, along with Andy Shaw, Chair of the RIBA GULF Chapter, and Li-Ren, President of AIA Middle East and the hosts for the event, MAHE-Dubai.
