Soul Mvnt by Arch Home Interiors blends high-intensity Lagree workouts with the softness of mat-based yoga in a space designed for emotional depth, atmospheric calm, and bold self-expression

Concept
The concept for Soul Mvnt was to create a boutique Pilates studio that felt immersive and atmospheric, calm and grounding from the moment you enter, yet bold and full of character. The client wanted a space that went beyond the typical clinical gym aesthetic: something warm, elevated, and designed with emotional impact. It had to support two distinct types of movement, high-intensity Lagree and slow, mat-based yoga sessions, while also having two changing rooms, a reception, and a retail corner, all with the same thoughtful level of detail.
Most importantly, the clients gave us full creative freedom. They trusted us to take their vision and build something that felt more like a sanctuary than a studio. That trust set the tone for everything that followed.
Location / Context
Soul Mvnt is located in Building 8, Dubai Design District, a vibrant hub for creativity and design. The unit was received in shell-and-core condition, allowing us complete freedom to plan and construct the space from the ground up, from technical services to architectural layout, finishes, and final detailing.
Design Approach
Soul Mvnt was imagined and built from the ground up. From a raw, shell-and-core unit into a fully formed wellness space. Our goal from day one was to make the experience feel effortless. The layout was designed to guide clients through the space with clarity and calm, from the sculptural reception area to the studios and finally into the changing zones. Each space had its own energy, but they all had to feel connected and cohesive.
Material choices played a big role in shaping that experience. In the common areas, we used micro-cement across the floors and walls to create a seamless, natural base. Its soft, matte texture helped set the tone of quiet and minimal.
Inside the studio rooms, functionality met comfort. We used vinyl gym flooring with acoustic underlay for its durability and soft underfoot feel, but also to manage sound, especially important for the high-intensity Lagree sessions. Acoustic insulation was built into the walls and ceilings to keep the two studios acoustically separate and maintain the right atmosphere in each.
Joinery across the project was crafted in burl wood, bringing a warm, tactile richness that softened the space without overwhelming it. Both the burl wood and the marble were chosen for their organic movement and flow, adding a sense of natural elegance. The Avalanche marble appears in the entrance counter and bathroom vanities always with curved edges that echo the soft transitions throughout the space.
At the reception, everything comes together. A sculptural desk in handmade ivory tiles and burl wood anchors the entrance, with Avalanche marble detailing that elevates the composition. Nearby, a small service bar and integrated retail shelving were built to blend into the flow, practical without feeling intrusive.

The Lagree studio carries more intensity: surrounded by 360-degree mirrors and centered around a custom ribbed marble DJ booth, it has an energy all its own. The yoga-based mat studio, in contrast, is quiet and open, with hidden storage tucked behind full-height mirrors to keep the space clean and expansive.
Bathrooms and locker areas continue the same palette of micro-cement surfaces, burl wood joinery, and marble vanities, all designed to feel elevated but durable, with finishes that could hold up to use while maintaining their softness.
Because we built every part from scratch, we had complete control over how each surface met the next, how materials transitioned, how edges curved, how the space revealed itself step by step. Soul Mvnt became more than a Pilates studio. It became an environment that invites presence and calm.
Significant Brands Used
For lighting, we selected brands that reflect the project’s refined yet minimal character. Wall lights were sourced from Marset, known for their sculptural, atmospheric designs, while ceiling lights were supplied by Prado, chosen for their architectural precision and seamless integration into the space.
The remaining works were entirely custom built, with no off-the-shelf solutions used. Key materials included microcement, burl wood joinery, avalanche marble, and handmade ivory tiles.
Challenges Faced & Overcome
Although bathrooms were part of the brief from the client, the space had no existing drainage provisions. This meant we had to carefully plan and execute a full drainage system from scratch to make the wet areas such as bathrooms fully functional.
Acoustic control was another key consideration. The Lagree studio was designed for high-energy classes, with loud music and a DJ booth, while the yoga mat-based studio required a quiet, calming atmosphere. On top of that, the studio is located within a commercial office building, which made it critical that no sound leaks outside the space and disturbs the offices.
To solve this, we installed targeted acoustic insulation within the shared walls between the studios, and along the perimeter walls and flooring of the Lagree room. This allowed us to fully contain the sound internally, maintaining the energy where it was needed, and the quiet where it mattered most.
