What inspired you to pursue a career in architecture?
My curiosity with the power of design and its impact on people’s lives prompted me to seek a career in architecture. The ability to shape and create functional, beautiful spaces that enhance the human experience deeply resonated with me. I was drawn to the idea of fusing art, science, and problem-solving to create structures that not only function but also inspire and uplift individuals and communities.

Did you face any challenges early on in your career, working as a female architect?
After completing my university degree, I joined AEDAS firm, where I’ve never experienced any gender bias suggesting that male architects are superior. On the contrary, the firm actively supports and encourages female architects by expanding their leadership prospects, developing professional development, and encouraging continual progress.

Can you tell us about a project that you’re particularly proud of?
I take great pride in all of my projects, and it’s challenging for me to single out one specific design because each holds significant meaning to me. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of my colleagues at AEDAS, every project I’ve worked on has added to my growth and understanding as an architect.

Would you say that at this point in your career, you have your dream job? How easy or difficult was it to get to where you are now?
It hasn’t been an easy journey, but through hard work and dedication, I’ve been able to get to where I am. I truly believe that hard work and responsibility are the keys to career success. The challenges I’ve faced along the way have only motivated me to strive for excellence and be accountable for my actions. That’s why I consider my current job a dream come true. It not only allows me to utilise my skills and contribute to meaningful projects but also provides opportunities for continuous growth, both professionally and personally.

What do you wish to do for Saudi women to encourage and guide them in their architectural careers?
Through interviews, articles, and public events, highlight accomplished Saudi women architects as role models. Their achievements and stories will inspire and push more women to pursue professions in design.

What are some of the common misunderstandings regarding women in architecture?
Women in architecture, like in many other professions, may face assumptions or stereotypes regarding their ability to balance work and family responsibilities. This can lead to limitations in career advancement or opportunities.

What advice would you give to women aspiring to become architects and designers?
Believe in yourself, accept your unique perspectives, and pursue your passion for architecture and design with zeal. Take chances, trust your intuition, and let your creative vision show. Your confidence and unwavering belief in your abilities will propel you to success and make a lasting impact in the field.

What are plans for the future?
I aspire to be more successful and to leave a lasting impression in the world of architecture. I intend to take on challenging projects and demonstrate my own design approach. I hope to contribute to the progress and innovation of architecture by always improving my abilities and seeking opportunities to shine.
