My role within the design studio is that of a founder under the Nikki B metaphor, which has evolved into Nikki Bisiker Interior Design. I am the company’s founder, managing the company and being the lead creative, cultivating client relationships, and developing the design admin, accounting, and project management teams on site. It’s a multi-level position that allows me to be present in all aspects of the business while not micromanaging the teams and encouraging development and ownership of their work,” explains Nikki Bisiker. Current projects for the brand include a new build in Dubai Jumeirah Islands, a flagship restaurant in Yas Bay, Abu Dhabi, renovations at Address Hotel, and property in DIFC.

In terms of expansion plans, we intend to enter extensive property development with different parties in London, Paris, Dubai, and Geneva, while continuing to focus on our individual clients and creating beautiful homes. The furniture line expansion will be completed this autumn and extensively marketed at the start of the new year. This is a culmination of many of our previous designs, as well as the introduction of new designs and finishes, which we will continue to do on a regular basis. Additionally, we’ll start a rug design business, and we’ll shortly start designing lighting fixtures,” Bisiker comments.

She talks about her creative influences: “My imagination and thinking are the main sources of my creative inspiration, and I strive to be innovative in many facets of design. Although they are useful as a source of inspiration and a mental doorway, I detest repeated allusions to Pinterest and Instagram. The key is to stay current with all new design trends, exhibitions, collections, essays, and discussions in the world of interior design, as well as in the fields of construction and MEP developments, which all have an impact on design on a practical level.

Even though smart cities are setting the trend, Bisiker believes that the general public still prefers soulful and thought- ful living to digital life, even though it is evident that we are all seeking sustainable living to build a healthy world in the future. She says: “The promotion of circular economies, human welfare, and sustainability are key elements in the future. Al- though I myself prefer a life with few technology conveniences and prefer to live near green fields, mountains, and flowing streams, circumstances are changing quickly. My judgement is reserved on this topic.

“I think the Middle East’s design and architectural future will always be phenomenal in terms of approach, capabilities, and progress rate. As the Middle East has embraced, developed, and promoted a strong sense of the arts, culture, and design, recognising it is a reference to creating beautiful lives and landscapes, I believe this will not slow down but rather increase. While I continue to explore the history of earlier designs, where there are always lessons to be learned, I am eagerly anticipating the future and its expanded possibilities,” comments Bisiker.

The future commissions include a holistic spa and boutique hotel in Tuscany, a ski lodge in Courcheval, France, a restaurant in Johannesburg, Africa, and further branded restaurants in the UAE.
