Through their technological competence, ERCO approaches sustainability projects. They develop products that provide the same amount of light as other manufacturers but using less energy through continuous inventive research and development. This allows projects to use fewer luminaires while producing the same or even more light.

ERCO believes that both efficacy and effectiveness are important for sustainability. Efficacy is the amount of light emitted from a luminaire (lm/W), while effectiveness is the amount of light that reaches the target surface (lx/W). ERCO believes that it is important to consider both efficacy and effectiveness when selecting lighting products, as focusing on efficacy alone can lead to missed opportunities for energy savings.

Global material shortages and interruptions in logistics are also important concerns. ERCO formerly had to source supplies from multiple sites. As a result, they were sensitive to material shortages. They have, however, subsequently centralised their production to a single location. This has increased their independence from material shortages and lowered the amount of transportation energy they need.

Interchangeable accessories, like lenses and tracks, are also used by the lighting industry. This assists them in reducing material waste and resource use. For example, if a customer has to replace the lens on a luminaire, they can simply buy a new lens rather than replace the complete luminaire.

Due to the digital transformation of the lighting industry, installing effective and energy-efficient lighting will be a prominent topic as buildings undergo renovations to satisfy green building requirements and legislative restrictions on fluorescent lighting. ERCO has been investing in R&D to generate more efficient products. They have created solutions in recent years that are more efficient at delivering light to target areas, resulting in significant energy savings for their clients.

The brand has received numerous awards, including the Light Middle East Awards 2023, the iF Design Awards, and others.
