When was your company established, and how long has it been in the Middle East?
Dyson Ltd is a British technology company, headquartered in Malmesbury, United Kingdom. In 1978, founder and inventor James Dyson became frustrated with his vacuum cleaner’s diminishing performance. Five years and 5,217 prototypes later, he had invented the world’s first bagless vacuum cleaner. Today, Dyson technology is sold in 75 markets globally. Dyson has grown from one man and one idea to a technology company with an ever-growing team of engineers and scientists at its core. In the past four years, Dyson revenue has more than doubled and Dyson’s technology investments have tripled. By 2020, Dyson aims to hire another 3,000 engineers globally. Dyson has opened its Middle East and Africa headquarters in Dubai since 2011.
What is your latest product launch?
Our latest innovative product is Dyson Airblade Wash+Dry hand dryer. What makes it unique? The Dyson Airblade Wash+Dry hand dryer combines in a single touchless unit a tap, and a hand dryer that dries hands in 14 seconds with HEPA-filtered air. The multi-function design helps to save space in the washroom and reduces the problem of water dripping on the floor as users move from a handwashing area to a separate hand drying station. It is also up to 39% quieter than its predecessor.
Why should businesses purchase your product?
The new Dyson Airblade Wash+Dry hand dryer costs EUR34 a year to run, compared to its predecessor’s EUR48. Dyson Airblade hand dryers cost up to 78% less to run than other hand dryers, and up to 98% less than paper towels. Dyson Airblade hand dryers also produce up to 79% less CO2 than paper towels and some other hand dryers.
What’s next for your company in 2018 and onwards?
Dyson’s philosophy is about inventing technology to solve the problems that others seem to ignore. From the world’s first bagless vacuum cleaner to a hair dryer with the motor the diameter of a coin in its handle, Dyson will continue to make products that are dramatically different.
